Authors have made an observation of new interesting rad:ioiogic signs of massive ascites in upper GI films. These were "waist" sign, converging fold sign, and "electric bulb" sign. The signs appeared only in the supine and RAO views but not in other views. Of these new signs, "electric bulb" sign occurred most frequently and was found in every ;case with massive ascites where fundic view was obtained in supine or RAC) position. In normal subjects the fundus ,assumed beret-cap like appearance. We named this "beret cap" sign. The beret cap sign occurred in every normal case in supine or RAO position.
